“Geographical accuracy is nothing but an illusion. The Po Delta, for example, does not exist.” It does not exist, yet something is there, something can be seen. This, therefore, is a map of what can be seen but does not exist: the Po Delta, in fact.
However, this observation is detailed and takes into account the environment within the long continuous perimeter embankment that surrounds a large area of the municipality. At any point in this place, the great river Po cannot be seen. The sea cannot be seen. Nothing can be seen, as the elevation is lower than sea level and the horizon is determined by the embankment, a sublime architectural work but also a metaphor for a physical and immaterial boundary that often restricts new forms of vision and development.
