The mapping project examines the building of the Oppido Lucano Agricultural Consortium, a structure that sheds light on the postwar socio-economic dynamics of Basilicata. Its symbolic centrality, despite its location on the outskirts, is evident in the construction processes and the territorial and political considerations that shaped its creation.

The mapping project presents research that used walking as a method to create a collaborative “deep map.” This research documented explorations and conducted “walk-along” interviews with residents and the team. The goal was to analyze perceptions and the relationship between people and place in order to gain a deeper understanding of the area.
Matteo Capobianco, also known as Ufocinque, was born in Novara in 1981.
Originally active in the Italian graffiti and street art scene, he later explored a broader definition of art while pursuing his design studies at the Politecnico di Milano. Regardless of the context, the foundation of the artist’s work is rooted in the art of the past. After working as a set designer for various Italian theaters, he began creating art installations, blending design methods with set design and using hand-cut paper as his signature material. The murals he creates are dotted with symbols and iconography, creating a hidden layer of meaning.
Photographs of some of the pages from the notebook that Ufocinque never parted with during the residency. The pages contain the visual notes through which the artist created the mural *Studi sul Qui* on Via Giordano at Ca’ Tiepolo, as well as the visual account of the residency published in the book for the fourth season.

A visual interpretation created through a mural depicting the visual elements observed and heard during the residency in Porto Tolle—through conversations with residents, excursions on foot, by car, and by boat, and exchanges of experiences with the other residency participants. The mural is thus composed of fragments, symbols, and impromptu elements intended to highlight the symbols of the territory from a landscape, environmental, historical, and social perspective.
Attila Faravelli is an Italian electroacoustic artist and musician. His work explores the relationships between sound, space, and matter through field recordings, sound installations, live performances, and the design of experimental sound objects. He has collaborated with artists, directors, and performers such as Kamal Aljafari, Rossella Biscotti, Riccardo Giacconi, Gürcan Keltek, Teatro Valdoca, and Mariangela Gualtieri. He is the founder of Aural Tools, a series of sound-producing devices.
A selection of recordings made during the residency, the result of an exploratory listening practice that uses microphones as extensions of perception. More than mere documentation, these sounds arise from a synesthetic and tactile approach: listening through microphones means inhabiting space in a different way. The recordings, made on audio cassette using imperfect analog technologies, convey the materiality and uniqueness of the sonic experience within the landscape.

A secret project—or rather, one that’s been kept under wraps. A project that’s a game, a joke, a proposal. A provocation designed to spark a conversation about politics.
Oppido Lucano: the community and the local area as told through the voices and faces of those who live there. These are excerpts from our conversations, filmed on the spot as we recorded them. In this interview, Vittorio Cilla—a worker at a Stellantis supplier factory in Melfi and a union activist—tells us about his experience organizing and fighting alongside the workers at the industrial complex.
In this interview, Antonietta Polichisio, a singer and expert in folk music, tells us about the band “Cianuro” and the relationship between music and political activism.
In this interview, Barbara Provenzale and Davide Cervellino, a couple of flamenco dancers from Oppi, talk about their relationship with music, flamenco, art, and living—or returning to live—in Basilicata.

He is a member of the La Fournaise association (documentary film) and the Mirmica association (participatory art projects).
Documentary (13 min.) – A short documentary exploring the relationship between the residents of Oppido and the town’s historic center. The heart of old Oppido, a testament to a past for which many expressed nostalgia during our research, the historic center—once overcrowded and lacking basic services—was gradually abandoned starting in the 1980s, while the new Oppido, built of reinforced concrete, rose higher.

Documentary (25 min) – A journey through the Delta that follows the natural cycle of water and the many forms it takes in Porto Tolle, from the river to the irrigation canals, from the canals back to the river and then to the sea, and from the sea to the Scardovari lagoon. During this journey, we’ll pass cultivated fields and boats loaded with tourists, clam fishermen grappling with blue crabs, and fish auctions.

Documentary (15 min.) – An audiovisual exploration of Jovençan, traversing the town from east to west, from the farmlands to the village cemetery. An ultra-minimalist video that offers a window through which to closely observe ordinary places and be captivated by what would normally go unnoticed.

A photographic project undertaken along the coastline stretching from the mouth of the Reno River in Emilia-Romagna to that of the Isonzo River in Friuli. The project is divided into seven sections, which trace the territory from south to northeast. The divisions into sections are based on a zoning scheme that reflects the author’s vision of the territory. The images explore the relationship between the built environment, space, and tourism. This is the first album and depicts the coastline of the Lidi Ferraresi.

A digital reinterpretation of the exhibition presented by the artist during the public presentation at the end of the residency. An installation that invites viewers to delve into the collective memory of Porto Tolle while simultaneously blending the past and the present—an idea that would later be fully developed through the *Finzioni* series.

The landscape of Porto Tolle in 33 images that depict what is seen but which, perhaps, does not exist. After all, “Geographical accuracy is nothing but an illusion,” says Cibotto in “Scano Boa.” This observation applies only to the area within the long embankment: from any point in this place, the great River Po is not visible. You cannot see the sea. You cannot see anything.

A series of photographic triptychs that explore the concept of the line through the landscapes that serve as the artist’s living spaces: places that no one would stop to look at. These compositions are landscapes that seek to dissolve into thin air, and with them their images, in an attempt to erase the distinction between in focus and out of focus, between object and subject, between self and world. The landscapes are traversed by a subtle line of focus, and as we stand before them, we stubbornly wait for them to take action and become new forms, new desires.

In this series of photographic diptychs, the artist explores the potential of landscape photography when one moves away from documentary aims and embraces narrative ones.

An account of what remains in the memory of a place that, whether by chance or fate, the author does not call home. It’s just a story, a sort of family secret that isn’t really a secret at all. But whether true or not, secrets must be believed. That’s what the author’s grandmother said about Jovençan. After that, once again, we couldn’t make head or tail of the “here” we were talking about.

A series of photographic compositions that uniquely superimpose the past and the present, archival images and photographs taken by the artist during his residency. A playful yet profound reflection—both admiring and irreverent—on the identity of this artificial land, already steeped in history and in search of a new future.

In this exploration of the relationship between the act of photography and memory, between the recording of reality and an act of love, the “Seventy-Two Photographs of Love in Full Light” become fragments, details within details, memories of memories—a continuous fractal descent toward the center of the heart.

Every photograph is a record: a testament to its fidelity to reality, a fragment that captures the present. But it is also a record, an emotional imprint, an act of remembrance—bringing to heart what is no longer here. This project explores photography as an affective and archaic practice, capable of evoking a place that has never been inhabited yet feels intimately familiar. The images, amateur in the purest sense of the word, follow subtle traces, like those left by shepherds, in search of an inner time and space.
